Concrete Leveling vs Replacement

Do You Need to Replace Your Concrete?

When your driveway, sidewalk, or patio starts sinking, the first thought many homeowners have is "I need to replace my concrete." But in the vast majority of cases, concrete leveling is a better, faster, and more affordable option.

Concrete replacement involves demolishing the existing slab, hauling away the debris, preparing the sub-base, pouring new concrete, and waiting days for it to cure. It's expensive, disruptive, and time-consuming.

Concrete leveling, on the other hand, raises your existing concrete back to its original position in just a few hours, at roughly half the cost.

When Is Replacement Necessary?

Concrete leveling works for the vast majority of sunken concrete situations. However, there are some cases where replacement may be the better option:

  • Severely cracked or crumbling concrete - If the slab itself is breaking apart, leveling won't fix the structural damage

  • Extensive spalling - When the surface is heavily deteriorated from salt damage or freeze-thaw

  • Major heaving - If slabs have been pushed upward by tree roots or frost heave rather than sinking
